How to Massage

1. Setting up

You need to set up an environment where the person you will be massaging can lie down comfortably. So a large area with enough space to move around.

You need two pairs of sheets – one for the person receiving the massage to lie on (you don’t want massage oil on your carpet or couch!) and one to cover them with.

How to Massage

Never massage anyone without lubrication – so get a bottle of massage oil.

Once ready ask your partner to address and lie down on the massaging space and cover them up.

2. The Massage Itself

As you begin, keep in mind that the most effective massages are done when you focus on large muscle groups. Fortunately, they are very few of them: neck, back, shoulder and legs.

  • First, pour a little of the oil into your hands and rub them together to get warm
  • You should start with massaging the shoulder muscles mid-way between the shoulder and the neck. Knead ese muscles gently and pull them towards you.
  • Gently and slowly work your way down to the upper back region, kneading firmly but gently as you go along
  • Move both hands across the back towards both of the shoulders
  • Cup your hands on the curve where the shoulders lead into the arms and gently lift a few times to stretch the shoulder muscles
  • Work down each arm separately, making sure to knead both the biceps and the triceps gently
  • Work down to the hands where you will use your thumbs to knead the palms
  • Next, return to the upper back and slowly move lower to the mid-back. Use your fingers to work from the center pushing outward towards the ribs
  • Continue to work down the back to the hips and just above the buttocks. Pay great attention to the lower back as it is a region that experiences a lot of tension and stress
  • If your parter is up for it, the upper thighs should be next, where you should knead the muscles thoroughly
  • Move down to the calves and spend a considerable amount of time as they are very strong muscles which get used heavily every single day

3. Massaging the Feet

If you have gotten to this point you should have given your partner a pretty good full body massage! That sounds great, eh? Will, the real mastery in massaging is in giving an amazing foot massage so read on!

  • When massaging the feet, be careful not to tickle the skin as it can get irritating
  • Start with the heel: firmly grab it and push it up, down and side to side
  • Next work your way to the underside of the feet and use deep slow pressure from your thumbs to knead this region
  • Wok the balls of the feet and in-between the toes. try to pull on each toe for about 10 seconds (gently)

4. The End of the Massage

Once you have completed, wipe any oil off your partner and let them know that you are done.

A sign of a job well done is if you see that your parter was sleepy or sleeping during the massage.

Relax. Perhaps share a drink, or sit together. Enjoy each other’s company.
